A Rainforest Retreat in Panama

Sure, we all automatically think "beach" when planning a vacation south, but let's do something different, something inspired, something exciting. Let's head to Panama where the Radisson Summit Hotel & Golf Club has created a rainforest oasis that will have you second-guessing the beach for your next vacation.

Most of us attribute the Radisson name to a clean and concise hotel, but this is really a resort property, as it delivers every expectation and amenity of a large scale resort; but, with the service, intimacy, and quality the Radisson brand is known for. This rainforest hideaway not only steps up to the plate, but hits a home run, with unique features that, we think, surpass your beach contenders.

You will be happy to note, that this resort has a fantastic location. Although the property is private it puts you within easy access to exploration of the Panama Canal, botanical gardens, shopping, restaurants, and tours. They even have a shuttle service to take you into town.

The Difference between Beach and Rainforest

Instead of lazing on the beach, you will be suntanning in the gorgeous courtyard; it's like something you would see at a celebrity mansion. The courtyard boasts tons of upscale lounge chaises surrounding the fantastic pool. With a mountainous rainforest as your backdrop, you won't be missing the ocean views.

Aimless strolls along the coastline become curious nature hikes. Unlike a beach walk, the eco-trails create interest and wonder, as you never know what is around the next bend.

Dips in the ocean become dips in the rainforest-facing infinity pool (or courtyard pool). The sun is just as good as at the beach, and the fresh aroma of flaura is the perfect contrast to the salt water breeze you are accustomed to.

The alternative to building sand castles with the kids, is exploring the butterfly farm found on site. Imagine the smiles on both their face and yours as you are surrounded by these vibrant fliers. We should also mention that a frog farm is set to be opened soon!

In lieu of beach volleyball, you will have a blast on the obstacle course. A very unique feature that we haven't seen at another resort or hotel yet.

Think you'll miss the watersports? With a PGA inspired golf course on property, you can take up a new activity. If you are already a golf enthusiast, you're going to love the five star golf amenities this hotel offers. If watersports are really your thing, not to worry, their concierge will be happy to help you pick out a tour where your interest will be met.

All you can eat buffets lines are sit-down dinners; a casual sports bar, an elegant Italian, and sushi bar in the lobby are found. If wanting to stay outside grab a steak at the poolside bar and grill. With the room prices being very affordable and kitchenettes available in your suite, you don't need to budget much more for food.

The discotheque is translated into a Karaoke bar. Yes, you can "get your song on" in the evenings. If to shy to participate, not to worry, you will love seeing the good (and the bad) try their turn at the mic.

We don't want to give everything away, there is a certain je ne sais quoi about having a few surprises for when you get there, but these differences paint a picture of what to expect at this rainforest retreat. There will never be a dull moment!

Inside the Chic Radisson Resort

The warm atmosphere has nothing to do with the weather, but rather the colorful sophistication that reigns in the design of the Radisson. A chic lobby bar, extensive fitness room, and stylized suites all testify to the upscale and modernity of this vacation abode.

Contemporary interior design

The difference between a beach resort and the Radisson Hotel? Namely, the size. Only 109 rooms are offered. In opting for a smaller-sized hotel there are many advantages. At the Radisson Summit Hotel the advantage is as clear as day in the attention given to guests by the staff. From housekeeper to concierge, everyone is kind and helpful.

What Others Are Saying About the Radisson

We aren't the only ones impressed by this getaway. Here are what some others have to say about this unique retreat:

"What a wonderful hotel!"
- Reviewed April 29, 2014

We booked two nights at the Radisson during our Spring Break. It met all of our expectations...plus more! We were accommodated by our request for early check-in and were allowed to wander the trail and butterfly exhibit while they got our room ready. The views are absolutely amazing from every point on the grounds, not to mention our 4th floor room was right at tree top level to see and hear an array of birds! If you are doing anything near Gamboa or Miraflores this is the place to be for easy travel. We cant say enough about Carlos (doorman) who helped us with our luggage, gave us directions, pointed out wildlife to our girls and even acted as interpreter with other hotel staff that did not speak good English. We highly recommend this hotel and hope to be back!

"Butterfly garden in the hotel!"
- Reviewed April 27, 2014

This hotel has one unique feature that it is located in a national park, beautiful rainfall is just outside of your window, and a butterfly garden of their own. Room is big, comfortable, and very well designed and equipped. Staffs are very very friendly and helpful. Always smile and go extra mile for you. I will certainly recommend this hotel and will bring my friends back again.
