"Private Jungle-Beach Hideaway & Spa"
Welcome To Playa Escondida
Playa Escondida, a secluded resort, nested in a beachfront setting surrounded by hills covered with jungle. Close to nature, yet safe and comfortable; clean air, private beach, beautiful rooms, relaxing ambience. The beach itself covers over 350 feet of coastline, and faces almost directly west, so the sunsets are often spectacular. Depending on the time of year, the ocean swells can bring large waves crashing onto the shore. Other times, you know why they named the ocean "Pacific".
The beach is a continually changing artwork of nature; tons of sand shift, colors change, the surf's powerful brush painting beautiful figures with swathes of glistening pure black iron on a background of golden beige, every day on a fresh, new canvas of beachfront. If you are an ocean savvy person who understands open ocean swells and surf then you already have plenty of respect for the sea. If you are an average swimmer with no ocean experience you should stay close to the shore unless the water is calm. When it is calm anyone can swim and snorkel among the large rocks and enjoy themselves with no danger. However, if there are large swells you must be very careful as the ocean can be very dangerous for the inexperienced average swimmer.
Here at Playa Escondida we have a large variety of rooms to choose from. All our rooms are unique from one another. They are divided in sections: Beach front, ocean views, tropical view and bird canyon. Depending on its location they have jungle or ocean views and those that are farther from the beach and main area include a golf cart to move around the resort.

Ten surf breaks less than 30 minutes away... From west swells on Punta de Mita's Faro, La Lancha and Burros to Sayulita's longboard right and San Pancho's beach pounders, you'll find yourself in the middle of some great choices. Sayulita offers a great right break for beginners and longboard riders, and a speedy left break for rippers. During the winter months, a large number of humpback whales migrate to the Mexican Pacific coast to mate and breed. Between December and April, they make their spectacular appearances in Banderas Bay. Marvel at these huge mammals' majestic grace...Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) arrive in November for calving and return to colder waters in March. Watch for them from Playa Escondida beach or pool, or, for a close up experience, take a private boat trip. Click here for more information on Whale Watching!
Only 10 minutes from your room is the new 18 hole Greg Norman course. This course is one of the most beautiful in the entire Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit area. We think it is better than the Nicklaus courses at the Four Seasons in Punta de Mita 5 minutes farther on the same road. Green fees (November-April): $160 (18 holes/electric cart) / clubs $20; low season rates begin May 1. Click here for more information on Golfing at Playa Escondida
