Hiking in Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve- Cabo Blanco is located on the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula and offers a short hiking trail (1.3km, less than 1 miles) or a long trail (4km, or 2.2 miles advanced hike) with excellent opportunity to see the tropical forest, rivers and beach, where one can spot many birds, monkeys and more. Opening hours are Wednesday – Sunday, 8am-4pm.
The sleepy little town of Montezuma offers black sand beach facing the gulf, with calmer waters. It also offers a 20 meter tall waterfall, and a series of three smaller cascades. You can also hike from the top to the bottom.
